FAQ
What belongs here?
It is hard to name everything that belongs here. When it is AFP related and in compliance with the Editing Guidelines and copyright stuff, then it might very well need a space in this wiki. Let's just point out a few things that do not belong here:
- Non-AFP-related stuff - This is an Amanda Palmer wiki, not a wiki about lolcats or about your crazy friend Mike. We don't need to see pics of the day he went shopping in a fur suit, no matter how funny you think it might be.
- We're not your personal web host - Please keep in mind that we got to pay for traffic and web space, just like anyone else. Therefore, we can't provide storage for all kinds of Amanda related images. A few pics per article (reasonable amount related to the article's length) are enough. In other words: Flickr is next door. However, when you got a Flickr album related to a specific articles topic (e.g. an album about a particular concert or about Evelyn Evelyn), then please, please, please, do add a link to your album within an article. We'd be more than happy about it!
How are you financing this project?
To be honest, I'm not sure about that either (^_^). At the moment, the project is funded out of our own pockets. We might consider asking for donations at some point, depending on how huge the red values on the bank accounts become. However, this project will never be sold for a value higher than US$ 0, nor will you ever need to pay for viewing. It is - and will remain - free as in free beer and mostly free as in Cuba libre freedom (see AFPwiki:Copyrights).
What kind of server are you using?
We're currently renting a server with 2 GB RAM, 500GB HDD and 3 TB traffic as well as a Celeron D/215/220 with 1.20+ GHz. There are other things running on the server as well, though the Wiki can use about 67.2% of the resources. It is hooked up to the interwebz with 100Mbit and running a Debian Lenny 32bit OS. Our current HTTP server of choice is an Apache MPM prefork. We're managing, breaking and fixing this software setup on our own, so sorry in advance for the times when we're f*cking it up. We're only fiddling to make it better. (^_^;)
Why are you doing this?
'Cause we can.
