LOFNOTC
From AFPwiki
LOFNOTC is an acronym coined by Amanda Palmer, which stands for Losers of Friday Night on Their Computers.
It's first appearance was on Friday, May 15th 2008, when she used the microblogging website twitter to complain about the fact, that she was spending the Friday night in her flat, rather than going outside. The acronym was used in form of a so called hashtag, which is a special way to format a search keyword in twitter, so that a variety of users can participate in a discussion. Participants can use the twitter search to find all updates containing the hashtag and therefor receive a timeline with the complete discussion, even when they don't follow all involved parties.
This campaign reached so strong participation by Amanda's followers, that it even reached the trending topics on twitter, which is a top ten of the most used terms in recent updates. Eventually, wrote a blog about it[1], released a t-shirt and turned it into a periodic event.
Another huge #LOFNOTC night led to an additional t-shirt and blog entry.[2]
